A Nike commercial targeted for an Asian audience

This is probably the MOST inspirational commercial I’ve come across because of the “I dream of not being a doctor” bit. And because I haven’t quite mastered the skill of successfully delivering sarcasm online, I have to say that I was indeed being sarcastic. But I am rambling.

Upon first watching the commercial, I found it odd that they had to include that bit about not dreaming to become a doctor. How is that statement even inspirational? I assume it was trying to address the Asian stereotype that the only way to become somebody is to become a doctor. It’s sad, really, when you think about it. It’s such a prevalent misconception that an international well-known brand deemed that not becoming a doctor is a source of inspiration in itself.

Then again, who am I to talk? It’s the only profession I’ve seen as something secure (albeit maddeningly hard) to pursue. Obviously though, I think those reasons are insufficient to become a foundation for the 4 (strictly the minimum) years of physical, mental, and emotional hell. 

So maybe I wasn’t being sarcastic after all.

So I just realized that I am a chronic self loather. Well, it’s prefty reasonable if you were me (oh hey I did it again).
